Shopify catalog sync and product matching

Learn how connected Shopify products and variants appear in DMNexa manual orders and AI-created drafts, including price matching and discounts.

Short answer

After catalog sync, Shopify-connected sellers search and select catalog variants for manual orders. AI drafts can match conversation items automatically; catalog price wins, while certain stated-total differences can become an order discount or warning.

Catalog matching keeps a conversation order aligned with the products already defined in Shopify.

Manual order entry

With an active Shopify connection, item entry starts with catalog search. Search by product or variant information, select the correct variant, and enter quantity. The catalog fills product identity, option description, and price.

This prevents a manual typo from silently creating a different product or price in the connected workflow.

AI-created drafts

When a customer names a product in a conversation or AI text entry, DMNexa can try to match it to the synced catalog. Matching should never block draft creation; unmatched language remains available for seller review.

Price differences

The real catalog price applies to matched items. If every item is matched and the customer-stated total is lower than the catalog sum, the supported workflow can preserve that expected total as an order-level discount. If the stated total is higher than the catalog sum, catalog pricing remains and the review shows a mismatch warning instead of using a negative discount to add money.

Always review variant, quantity, discount, shipping, and total before approval.

Fashion boutique example

A customer asks for black Mary Jane shoes in EU 39. The conversation text gives DMNexa context, but the seller still confirms that the draft is matched to the actual Black / EU 39 Shopify variant. The selected catalog identity and price apply; a product photo is not used to determine the variant.

If the agreed total is lower than the catalog sum, review whether a supported order-level discount explains the difference. Do not change the variant merely to force the total to match.

Customer matching

Connected sellers can search Shopify customers by name, phone, or email. Draft review does not create or update the real customer immediately; customer resolution happens when the seller approves the order. A matched customer is visibly locked until unlinked, which prevents silent edits to the wrong record.

Frequently asked questions

Can I freely edit the price of a matched Shopify variant?

A selected catalog item uses its catalog identity and price. Adjust the Shopify catalog or use the supported order-level discount when the agreed total is lower.

What happens if AI cannot match a conversation item?

The draft should remain reviewable with visible unmatched or free-form information so the seller can choose the correct product or correct the item.
